The John Deere model ´´´420´´ V was the rarest of all ´´420´´ Series agricultural
tractors manufractured at the Dubuque tractor works. A total of only 86 were 
produced during the 1956, 1957 and 1958 model years. Designated the 
´´special,´´ and also referred to as the ´´semi-high-crop´´ tractor, the ´´420´´ V 
was primarily intended for use in sweet potatoes, cotton, and various 
vegetable crops grown on high beds.Its 256-1/4 inches of under-axle clearance 
and wide range of wheel tread widths equipped it well for that purpose.
Today these tractors are highly prized by John Deere collectors.
