In 1937, John Deere introduced the high-clearance model 
´´B´´ tractor specifically for vegetable crops. By 1956, the ´´B´´
had evolved into the model ´´520´´, and a  high-clearance version 
with 42-inch rear wheels and a 16-inch single front wheel was still
being produced. Its long rear axle and offset reversible rear wheels provided 
a maximum rear tread width of 104 inches. The ´´520´´ remained in production 
until July 1956; and although specific records were not kept it has been estimated that only 
about 40 such tractors were shipped - mostly to California
