august 19, 1929: ''The new tractor being placed 
into production at present is to be knwown as the
general purpose wide-tread tractor. we will use 
serial numbers beginning wiht 400000.

Most early ''GP'' wide-tread tractors were 
equipped with C344R cast front wheels,
commonly known as Texas wheels.'' 
spoke-type front wheels were very sgarce
in 1929, and were not officially adopted
